Keith,
We have been following your voyage from Seattle, can you tell us what is in the white barrels on the aft deck?
Todd,
Rum!
Actually, in an abundance of caution we brought along about 300 extra gallons of fuel. That’s what’s in the barrels. However, the theoretical range of the Nordhavn 55 is 4,000 miles — considerably farther than the 2600 nm between San Diego and Hawaii. But we wanted to be prepared to dodge any spring storms, so I’m glad we brought the fuel.

Guy,
I’ve met many people who claim to have sailed to Hawaii, but to be honest, they were just acquaintances, and I don’t have any names. Perhaps someone will see this exchange and volunteer their experience. You might also check out a great website: www.noonsite.com. Your friend can probably hook up with someone there.

Keith,
Having done a lot of blue water sailing I will be watching with interest to see how your power boat behaves at sea etc. I’ve sailed LAX to HNL many times and am about to do it again in July when we sail yet another Transpac race ending at the Hawaii Yacht club. Enjoy your trip…I got to the USA via sailboat after an 18 month trip from Sydney Australia back in 1978..probably the best eighteen months of my life..Now I fly the same trip in 14 hrs..and get paid for it !! courtesy of my airline employer.
Looks like you are going to berth at HYC (Hawaii Yacht club) http://www.hawaiiyachtclub.org I am a member and look forward to seeing the boat tied up at the aloha dock right out in front of the club. Its a beautiful location for dinner etc) and we have a very friendly group of members.
Dont forget to go visit the Charthouse which is located a 5 minute walk from the club in the Alawai Marina. The bartenders Guy and Jerry mix a mean drink and the food is exceptional. Just in case your looking for a place with an elevated view of the whole marina..Sorento’s is located on the top floor of the Ilikai hotel (just opposite Chart House)great food/spectacular location/awsome sunset views. As you can tell from my email address I live here in Hawaii but am based (work wise) out of SFO so welcome to our island home and our very friendly HYC.
All the best and ALOHA from the Hawaiian Islands.

Thanks, Mike. Great info!

Keith,
Congratulations! We are very excited to follow the journey. Maybe its just the newness of everything but I definitely found myself wanting even more info, pics, video etc.
I keep picturing the scen from Jaws when the town Sheriff and Richard Dreyfus get drunk with Quinn. (I won’t say which one of those guys reminds me of you!)
Mary and I are confident that your trip will be a huge success for you and the entire team onboard the Global Adventure.
While I am back here in San Diego slugging it out with the markets, I will be living vicariously through you!
Cheers,

Thanks, Herb! I’ll keep you posted regarding sharks. However, as you know, I am an attorney. Therefore sharks do not attack me. Professional courtesy!
Dad-
Congrats and Bon Voyage! Kiley and the grandkids and I would have loved to have been there but, alas, the timing coincided with my new office opening in Cincinnati. Gotta stay focused so I can get my own boat someday!
We are all looking forward to following you on this Global Adventure. Be safe!
Love,
Keith Paul

-Twill be neat if an easily clicked(from main pg)
“Progress / Position” showing Lat / Lon specifics is included. With that lil additional info, we can then view weather, sea-temps, & perhaps even get a close enough pic to see TGA water-craft.
~ An automatically updated every;
- say 5 minutes Lat / Lon feature seems a good thing to me.
-AU & AG are showing me indicators of big moves likely $oon on the way… All the Best, BuyNOwww
