Hi Keith. I’ve been a listener of your show for several years. I think you do a great job. I’ve been “in the business” for 35 years, the first 10 of which were with Pacific Life (then Pacific Mutual Life) ending up as a manager in Seattle. I “saw the light” and became a CFP in 1987 and started my own firm. I now have about $22 million in LPL’s fee-based program. I wish I could say I have reached the pinnacle you have reached and started a cruise like the one upon which you are embarked.
I wish you safe passage on your cruise Keith, and will be listening in most Sunday mornings. Watch out for the pirates!
One little footnote Keith. I know that video clips don’t one one justice when looking at the human body, but it does appear that you might want to spend more time taking care of the only body you will ever have. I hope you take this in the spirit in which it is made. I’m 66, 6′2″ or so and weigh 167 lbs. I run 3 miles every single morning and do 45 minutes of Yoga each evening while watching Fox News. I hope you can think about this comment and include in your global adventure a plan to drop some pounds so you can enjoy the fruits of your labor and your kids can see their father and grandfather on his 90th birthday!
Good Luck and God Speed Keith.

Keith,
I’m a regular listener to your Sunday show. This is the first time I’ve visited your site - WOW what an adventure. You’re kinda hanging it all out there, aren’t you?
I had a question about the “equity structured notes” you’ve mentioned a few times. It seems that there’s not alot of people are up to speed on exactly what they are and how they are used. Also, the only info I’ve found relates to indexes - you’ve specifically mentioned those that were based on an underlying common stock (I think) like apple computer, etc.
I’m not wanting to make a mistake working with someone who just knows how to sell something, but doesn’t really know the nuts and bolts. Out of the referral program that you offer, can you narrow it down for me to a few advisors who are familiar with these types of products. I really like the concept - but don’t have confidence to select appropriate notes and also don’t have the confidence to select an advisor to assist (problem is: I don’t even know what I don’t know).
Thanks and bon voyage ….
Dave
Bob,
Thanks for your kind comments about our ship, The Global Adventure, and about our show.
The Nordhavn 55 is not only sturdy, she does have beautiful lines. I’m not familiar with the Egg Harbor you had, but know the 43 Matthews was beautiful. I’ll bet you really enjoyed that boat.
Regarding the single screw: Actually, that’s what appealed to me about the Nordhavn. The ship comes with either a standard 325 HP John Deere diesel, or a 385 HP Lugger. Either engine is utterly reliable and easy to maintain. Having a single centerline screw and full-displacement hull provides tremendous efficiency. That’s why, on a fuel payload of about 2,250 gallons the 55 has a theoretical range of 4,000 miles, at about 1200 RPM. The engine would love to run at up to 1800 RPM There is also a small 70 HP “get home” engine with its own screw. But I
rarely hear of Nordhavn owners having to use it.
The whole idea is to traverse long distances reliably and as economically as possible Dan Streech and Jim Leishman, owners of the company Pacific Asian Enterprises that builds Nordhavns tell me that’s what the Norhavn line was built to accomplish.
I know of a few owners have had to be “walked through” a diagnostic on their engine via Sat-phone, but Nordhavn got them up and running in no time. Their service is excellent, and 99.9% of the time engine maintenance problems boil down to “read the instructions”.
Because there is only one screw we must be careful to maintain the packing properly; but due to the hull configuration the propeller blades are well protected. Nordhavn also added line cutters to the blades at the shaft, which helps avoid the hassle of cutting away debris from time to time.
I’m glad you enjoy the show, Bob, and since you are a former financial advisor yourself, I take that as high praise. Hope you’ll continue to enjoy the show and website. We shove off next Sunday!

Keith,
I saw your boat a few weeks ago when I arrived in San Diego on “Nexus” (N47) with the Biggs. I’ve listened to your show for years and am looking forward to following your adventures on your beautiful boat! If you need crew, let us know!
