About Midway between Hawaii and Australia
Author’s Note: There is no sense pretending there are investment opportunities here. There aren’t. The Marshall Islands are poor, heavily dependent on U.S. support, and have little in the way of natural resources or land. So in the article below I elect to enjoy the place for what it is. I hope you will too.
Correction (May 19, 2007) Please note that previous references to the “Japanese fishing fleet” have been corrected to reflect the fact that the tuna fishing fleet in Majuro’s lagoon is owned and operated by Koo Fishing Company, of Taiwan.

Revocable Living Trusts: The Role of Trustees and Lawyers
Posted by Keith on May 11, 2007 at 6:53 pm | Leave a Comment
Keith,
If someone with a revocable living trust dies, is it the attorney’s job to identify all the assets, or is that the job of the trustee?
Are beneficiaries of the estate always supposed to be notified in writing, and if so whose job is that – the trustee’s or the attorney’s?

Tomorrow-Today: The International Date Line
Posted by Keith on May 10, 2007 at 10:05 pm | Leave a Comment
It’s all sort of confusing. Catch a morning flight from Majuro, The Marshall Islands, to Honolulu on, say, May 18, and you’ll arrive a few hours later in Honolulu on May 17. If you are then connecting to the mainland that same day, your connecting flight leaves the day before you left Majuro!
It’s all about the International Date Line, its exact opposite, the Prime Meridian, and “Zone Time.”

Fresh Wahoo Ceviche
Captain Wolf caught a small Wahoo today. It’s the perfect size for the four of us. At this moment I’m enjoying Alida’s outstanding Wahoo Ceviche. And tonight we’ll invite the rest of the fish to dinner!
