Dear Keith:

When you get to China, I am interested in Guangzhou Investment Company. This company is headquartered in Guangdong Province. It builds houses, shopping centers, etc. and also owns the more modern roads there for which it charges tolls. It trades in Hong Kong under the symbol 0123 for abut $2 Hong Kong dollars. It even pays a dividend. Not too long ago it spun off what I believe to be the first REIT in China.

The central Chinese govrnment owns a significant stake.

Last year I bought 50,000 shares and intend to let it ride for quite some time. The price per share seems to continue going up even though the Chinese economy is becoming somewhat rocky and the government seems to be trying to put the brakes on new housing and other construction.

I thought that you might be planning to interview some broker or other expert in Hong Kong and that you could possibly ask about Guangzhou Investment Company.

I have listened to your show for the past couple years and I have always enjoyed your perspective and advice on financial issues. I have been an investor since my Grandfather gave me some stock in American General Insurance Co. (now AIG) when I was about 8 years old. He would give me about 10 shares every few years for a birthday present. I have added to that portfolio and it has grown to nearly $750,000. over the past 42 years (I’m 50). Keep up the good work and I’ll be listening for your investment tips and advice.

P.S. I’m a sport fisherman and like to fish for Tuna, Yellow Tail and Doe Doe about 200 miles SW of San Diego. We go out for 4 to 5 days without seeing land, so I know exactly what your feeling out in that vast beautiful ocean! You are at the mercy of the ocean and mother nature.

I spent today with Lynn, we went shopping(surprise) for Easter goodies for the kids. We are getting together tomorow and going golfing prior to the wonderful feast that mom is preparing.
